About Aesthetic Group Gymnastics
Aesthetic Gymnastics (AGG) originated in Europe as a sport for working citizens, especially working women, to keep fit, and later evolved into soft gymnastics and competitive events. There are currently 50 countries or regions around the world participating in the events or activities of the National Aesthetic Gymnastics Federation IFAGG.
Aesthetic gymnastics is a gymnastics program based on stylized, natural full-body movements. This sport includes harmonious body movements, rhythm, power and speed changes, and compliance with the body's natural strength and movement. There is a natural flow between each movement, as if each new movement was created from the previous one. All movements must be performed smoothly, showing range and variation in dynamics and speed.
A set of movements must include a variety of body movements, such as body waves and swings, balances and spins, jumps, dance steps and lifts. Physical qualities required include agility, speed, strength, coordination and flexibility.
An AGG team consists of 6 to 10 players. Teamwork and unity are essential. An expressive rendition of music through movement, weaving a story.
AGG is a high-level competitive sport that combines art, expression and emotion.
